3UP anticipated cloud services in providing a server blade solution of high density to include switching, traffic control, diskless boot, firewall and load balancing. 3UP was first to market integrated virtualization and SDN/NFV provisioning capabilities in a blade server. 3UP designed in-house switching and chassis management as the foundation of the architecture for the system, in contrast to other vendors' offerings where the Ethernet switches are sourced from OEM suppliers and statically configured. 3UP's architecture was fundamentally better for remotely managed, dynamically reconfigured systems, where management of servers, networking and storage are converging.
