Zhenai.com has its roots in 96333.com, a free dating site created in May 1998, which was acquired by Dr. Song Li, an investment banker-turned serial entrepreneur and his business partner in January 2005. Subsequently, he transformed the site into the current service model of integrated internet and telephone matchmaking. The new site was launched in August 2005 with the new brand name of Zhenai.com, which means in Chinese ''cherished love''. In November 2006, Roger Chen, a former executive at Dell China, joined Zhenai.com as a co-founder and general manager. Zhenai.com has developed as an established brand among China’s urban professionals who use online dating services to look for long-term relationships. Most of its members are university-educated and urban professionals.
