ITHS 2008 Annual Meeting

ITHS session at the 2007 annual
meeting of the Society for the
History of Technology.
On October 22, 2008, the IT History Society will hold its Second
Annual Conference.
The title of this year's conference is "Leveraging Yesterday:
Using History to Create Value Today and Tomorrow in the High-Tech
Company." Three companies that have successfully used history
for company purposes - Agilent, IBM, and Symantec - will present
their experiences. A panel of Silicon Valley lawyers will discuss
legal and other issues relating to making a company's history
available internally and externally.

will have a chance to view the Applied Materials Heritage Exhibit.

This session includes two attorneys discussing legal and
other issues relating to making a company's history available
internally and externally, and a discussion by a business scholar
identifying the larger societal value of company records and
arguing that legal restraints on record access are too strict. These
remarks will be followed by an open discussion session with
questions and comments welcomed from the audience.
