Applera Corporation was one of the largest international biotechnology companies based in the United States. 

Applera Corporation was one of the largest international biotechnology companies based in the United States. Appelera consisted of two business units, Celera and Berkeley HeartLab. Celera provided diagnostics into disease management, while Berkley HeartLab offered services to predict cardiovascular disease risks. In 2008, Celera separated from Appelera and functions as an independent entity.  Applera changed its named to Applied Biosystems shortly after. The company now focuses on integrated systems for genetic analysis. The company was originally founded in 1931 and is based in California.
