Founded by Bastin Gerald in 2009, the company is based in Fremont, California and has a development team in Madurai, India. All applications are distributed as Software as a Service (Saas). With 40 cloud-based business apps that are available to small businesses for free, Apptivo's revenue comes from offering some paid plans. The software suite is also available through Google Apps. Apptivo claims 20,000 business customers around the world, and in 2011 closed a $1.4 million venture round.
