The company is currently developing a new class of device, a kinetic orthosis, based on a novel exotendon technology invented at the Cleveland Clinic by world-renowned researcher Dr. A.J. van den Bogert. Cadence closed its first round of funding in August 2010 (as Empowering Engineering Technologies, Corp.) and signed a perpetual, worldwide exclusive license agreement with the Cleveland Clinic to develop and market the technology. Market release of the kinetic orthosis are expected in early 2012.
