The California Digital Library (CDL) supports the assembly and creative use of the world’s scholarship and knowledge for the University of California libraries and the communities they serve. It is a unit within the department of Academic Planning, Programs, and Coordination at the UC Office of the President. The CDL provides tools that support the construction of online information services for research, teaching, and learning, including services that enable the UC libraries to share their materials and provide access to digital content. Its programs consist of access and publishing program, collection development and management program, discovery and delivery program, and University of California Curation Center. The CDL’s portfolio of services includes business services, information services, infrastructure and applications support services, strategic and project planning services, and User Experience design services. The California Digital Library was founded in 1997 by the University of California and is based in Oakland, California.
