Calolo (formerly CollegeAppz) is an online platform that guides students, step-by-step, through the entire college admissions and financial aid process. The steps include academics, standardized tests, college list, applications, essays, and scholarships. Calolo features a collaborative checklist, a calendar, text reminders, and a separate dashboard for high school counselors to track students. Calolo initially targets international, immigrant, and first-generation college students. These are the fastest growing groups of students applying to U.S. colleges, at 42% per year. Calolo is a business-to-consumer product. The free version of the product is distributed by high schools to students and families, who can then pay $10 per month for a premium version. Alternatively, high schools can purchase licenses for their students. Calolo has partnered with Pearson, the largest education company in the world, as an add-on to their Student Information System used by 13.5 million students.
