Caplease is a specialty finance company that has focused since 1994 on financing and investing in commercial real estate that is net leased primarily to single tenants with investment grade credit ratings. They were formed in October 2003 to continue the business of their predecessor, Capital Lease Funding, LLC. CapLease was acquired by American Realty Capital Properties (NASDAQ: ARCP) on November 5, 2013. Following the merger, CapLease’s senior management and origination teams joined ARCP and will be responsible for growing the company’s $4 billion single-tenant net lease office and industrial business.
