At Carr Workplaces, they are proud of their heritage and for a relatively young company they have a lot of it. Founded in 2003 by Oliver T. Carr, Jr., they are the culmination of decades of experience in commercial real estate services and development. The following is a quick synopsis of their storied past. Mr. Carr founded The Oliver Carr Company in 1962 and built it into the most active commercial development firm in DC. Then in 1993, the Carr Company became CarrAmerica, a NYSE-traded real estate investment trust. In addition to being a leading owner and developer of commercial real estate, CarrAmerica was the largest owner and operator of business centers throughout the U.S. The company was sold in 2006 to affiliates of The Blackstone Group. That brings us to present day with Carr Workplaces continuing the long legacy of forward-looking Carr family innovation by creating extraordinary office environments that deliver flexibility and value for independent work groups and professionals.
