Center for Strategic and International Studies focuses on areas, including defense and security; regional stability; and transnational challenges ranging from energy and climate to global development and economic integration. Former U.S. Senator [Sam Nunn](http://www.crunchbase.com/person/sam-nunn) has chaired the Center for Strategic and International Studies Board of Trustees since 1999. John J. Hamre became the president and chief executive officer of Center for Strategic and International Studies in April 2000. Center for Strategic and International Studies was founded in 1962 by David M. Abshire and Admiral Arleigh Burke. It is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
