It connects software developers, tech communities, and CSR programs with organizations that build open source software for social impact. It facilitates knowledge sharing between civic engagement, corporate, government, nonprofit, academic, and technology communities. SocialCoding4Good works with nonprofit organizations such as Amara, Code for America, The Community for Open Source Microfinance, FrontlineSMS, The Guardian Project, and Wikimedia Foundation. VMware, HP, and Google are some of its charter corporate partners. It is funded by support from Knight Foundation, Hewlett Foundation, and more. SocialCoding4Good was launched in 2011 and its operations are based in California, United States.
