Founded in 1843 by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in Worcester, Massachusetts, the College is a highly selective.

A well-respected and highly selective Catholic Liberal Arts College in Worcester, Massachusetts, College of the Holy Cross offers rigorous academics, a highly spirited community and a financial promise to all its students. While the admissions requirements are strict, students are evaluated individually and according to their extracurricular involvement as well as their academic performance. Once students are accepted, have applied for financial aid and their financial need has been determined, Holy Cross promises to meet 100% of that need. When students enroll at Holy Cross the academic programs available include a combination of broad and specialized academic subject areas. Film Studies, Middle Eastern Studies, Chinese Language and Civilization as well as Art History, Music, Philosophy and World Literature are just some of the majors offered. At the professional level, students can study Business, Engineering, Law or Teacher-Education. Students at Holy Cross enjoy being there and partaking of the highly individualized student organizations, many of which have been conceived of and launched by the students themselves. When not on campus students may travel to nearby Boston or, if they wish to go further, can take a year or semester abroad or a semester in Washington D.C. Academic internships are also available.
