Corona Labs Inc. (formerly known as Ansca Mobile) is a venture-backed mobile software company based in Palo Alto, California. Ansca Mobile changed its name to Corona Labs in June 2012. Corona Labs is the creator of Corona SDK, a cross-platform mobile development framework that builds to iOS, Android, NOOK and Kindle Fire devices from one code base.Corona Labs was founded in 2008 by Carlos Icaza and Walter Luh, both previous mobile engineers at Adobe who worked on Flash Lite. Luh was the Lead Architect while Icaza was the Senior Mobile Engineering Manager.In late 2009, Corona Labs secured $1 Million in Series A funding from Merus Capital, a venture capital firm founded by former Google and Microsoft executives. In December 2009, Corona Labs released Corona SDK, initially supporting iOS. In April 2010, they expanded support for the Android operating system. In 2011 Corona began supporting development for Amazon's Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble's NOOK.Over 120,000 developers use Corona SDK, including the 14-year old creator of the Bubble Ball game for iOS and the 84-year old creator of Dabble. In 2011, Corona Labs unveiled LaunchPad, a suite of marketing and analytics services targeted for mobile app developers.
