Nematodes are roundworms that cause billions of dollars in damage annually to numerous crops, including soybeans, corn, cotton, strawberries, and bananas. Nematodes causing important human diseases include hookworm, whipworm, roundworm (Ascaris), and the filarial worms responsible for lymphatic filariasis and onchocerciasis.
