Dow Brook Advisory Services was founded by Larry Hawes in response to his observation that the traditional analyst firm business model was no longer viable for either those companies or their software vendor clients. For analyst firms, macro forces such as the relative ease and low cost of communicating, researching, and publishing on the Internet; the resulting rise of independent knowledge workers and networked organizations; and the ever-increasing pace of business execution have made their pay-to-play model obsolete and their packaged research late to market and increasingly irrevelant. For advisory clients, those same factors have resulted in an overwhelming amount of information that is available for free or at low cost on the Web, which, in turn, has created an urgent need for ways to filter that abundant information stream to glean what is relevant, accurate, and insightful, so those valuable nuggets may be applied to decision-making processes in a timely manner.
