The laboratory provides engineering services directly to governments, industries, and academies; works on teams as a prime contractor or subcontractor; and participates as a collaborator in consortia. It also offers unbiased assessments of technology or systems designed or recommended by other organizations. Additionally, Draper is specialized in precision instrumentation; fault-tolerant, secure and assured, and autonomous systems; image and data analytics; human systems technology; materials engineering and microfabrication; and biomedical solutions. Draper was founded in 1973 and is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
