Poplus is an open federation of people and organizations that shares knowledge about technology to support civic and democratic projects.

Poplus is an open federation of people and organizations from various countries that shares knowledge about technology to support civic and democratic projects. It aims to build technologies that can save everyone’s time and money by re-using each other’s work. Poplus offers several open-source and free to use components: PopIt: store and share lists of politicians; WriteIt: write and send messages to public figures; MapIt: map geographic points to administrative boundaries; BillIt: record, search, and track bills as they change; SayIt: search, browse, and share transcripts; Represent Boundaries: match users with location-based information; and Cuttlefish: a transactional email server. Poplus was launched in April 2014, when coders, journalists, and activists met in Santiago Chile for PoplusCon, an international conference hosted by the federation.
