TechCentral is an online information resource that offers news, reviews, and comment on South Africa’s information and communications technology industry. TechCentral adheres to three policies in their selection and publication of news: free enterprise, the advocation of privatization and deregulation as tools to aid in the growth of the economy to benefit the citizens, and to provide readers with independent and balanced reporting and analysis that does not toe the corporate line. TechCentral exists solely as an online news platform. The site is predominantly focused on multimedia and uses mediums such as photography and weekly podcasts. The latest versions of Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer or Safari are recommended when accessing the site. Initially TechCentral’s readership was approximately 1000 readers. Since its inception in 2009, the website’s readership has increased dramatically and currently has over 133000 readers. TechCentral was founded in 2009 by former Financial Mailtechnology editor Duncan McLeod.
