The internet was supposed to change everything. It was supposed to change the way we interacted with one another, the way we conducted business and especially the way we worked. It was supposed to free people from the confines of geography and transcend ideas of collaboration. It has, to a point. While the Internet made much of our daily lives dramatically easier, we are also discovering that many of our problems at heart are human, not technological. It is not so much who is connected, but rather who is connected to whom. Finding people online can be just as hard as in person. We find this matters greatly when scouting tech talent. Recruiters do not foster relationships effectively online because their models of conducting interaction are broken.
