It shares original content by IT professionals, peer-to-peer advice and best practice guides from IT leaders on the web, and a library of professional resources from various vendors in the IT industry. The site features blogs, community forums, vendor white papers, software downloads, webcasts, and research. It covers topics such as cloud, security, big data, innovation, CXO, data centers, networking, software, startups, tech and work, and more. TechRepublic is a ZDNET tech community site, and its content is linked heavily with its sister site’s materials. TechRepublic was launched by Tom Cottingham and Kim Spalding in 1997 as a trade publication in Louisville, Kentucky. Its online presence was established in May 1999. The site was purchased by CNET Networks in 2001 and it operates now as a part of CBS Interactive, which acquired CNET Networks in 2008.
