Company Description
Teletrade, Inc. operates as a telephone and Internet auction company for certified coins and sportscards.
Established in 1986, Teletrade is America's largest fully automated, telephone and Internet auction company for certified coins and sportscards. Teletrade was the pioneer in the computerized auction industry, holding computerized auctions well before the explosion of the web brought the internet to the mainstream. Innovation has been the key to Teletrade's success. The original idea was to create an auction forum where certified coins could be bought and sold from the comfort of one's own home. Teletrade implemented this idea utilizing cutting edge technology, creating a state-of-the-art auction system where by participants could place bids by simply using touch tone telephones over toll free bidding lines. The idea worked and was quickly expanded upon. Teletrade announced the opening of its Sportscard division in 1992. In 1998, they integrated bidding from their web site into the telephone bidding system. Their auctions are available to the entire population, the system is not limited to only those who have access to the Internet. They currently hold three Certified Coin auctions per week, every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, and offer over 1200 lots in each auction. Over 350,000 lots are run through the Teletrade auction system each year. They are the largest and most active market in the industry.
