Australian coworking/incubator space

The York Butter Factory is a coworking and incubator space in Melbourne, Australia catering to the tech startup. Opening its doors in October 2011, it is quickly establishing itself at the centre of a quickly growing startup ecosystem in Melbourne. York Butter Factory was co-founded by the partners of Adventure Capital Venture Management, who run their VC fund out of the space. The space already hosts 50+ startups largely in the enterprise and business technology space. Access to funding is through its owners' tech-focused VC fund as well as seed funding provided directly to deserving startups on a non-batched basis. There is a culture of collaboration, resource sharing and tough love. Tenants are curated with a view to fill the space with high-potential technology startups with a global ambition. York Butter Factory hosts a number of both regular and ad hoc events tailored to supporting the Melbourne startup scene including Startup Weekend and other hack weekends, meetup groups including local Wordpress, AWS and MongoDB meetups as well as numerous other events.
