Hardware Description

Dell Computer is a renowned name in the computer hardware industry. This American company, based at Round Rock, Texas, was founded by Michael Dell, in 1984. Dell Computer sells their products directly to customers, reducing the additional costs of the distribution networks in the process. The range of products marketed by them include personal computers, computer peripherals, servers, personal digital assistants, network switches, data storage devices, software applications, and several other products. The OptiPlex line of desktop computers was marketed by Dell for use in government, corporate, and educational institutions. The OptiPlex GX 1 was introduced towards the end of the previous century, and quickly became reputed for its manageability and excellent performance. This PC has a 440BX chipset, which has a 100 MHz memory bus and 100 MHz synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM). These features result in optimal performance of the Intel Pentium II processors using MMX technology, which has microprocessor speed of up to 450 MHz, or the Intel Pentium III processors, that has a maximum speed of up to 600 MHz. The Dell GX1 has a hard drive capacity of 10 GB, and 64 MB ECC SDRAM memory. The types of chassis offered for this model are the mini-tower, medium desktop, low profile desktop, and net PC. The OptiPlex GX1 has integrated audio, integrated 2X AGP ATI video type card with a 4 MB standard video memory, upgradeable to 8 MB (SGRAM), provides enhanced video performance even while using high end graphic applications. Important Manageability features incorporated in the GX1 includes Desktop Management Interface (DMI) 2.0, Wired for Management support, ACPI capability, remote system boot and configuration, and security enhancements such as chassis intrusion alert.
