Hardware Description
Manufactured by Dell, the C400 Latitude Laptop comes installed with a 1.2 GHz, 256 Mb RAM along with a Pentium III processor that helps the machine run faster and prevents it from getting bogged down. The external features that were redesigned to make this laptop 'ultraportable' in weight and size are significant to the product. The Hitachi Ultra-ATA/100 hard disk provides storage space of 20GB and rotates at the speed of 4,200rpm. Users can upgrade the computer to 30GB, and also have an option between a DVD-ROM with CD-RW and a 24x CD-ROM driver. The keyboard is QWERTY with 85 keys, which is user friendly as well as comfortable. With 18mm key spacing and 2.7mm travel, the keyboard is spacious and responsive. Unlike many other ultraportable laptops, the PgUp, PgDn, Home, and End keys do not necessarily have to be accessed via a combination of the function keys. The 12.1 inches XGA-resolution color TFT display screen displays sharp and clear pictures. The graphic card installed in the laptop is an 830 Intel chipset that consumes around 32MB of memory. The Latitude C400 is not overburdened with I/O ports and expansion options. Located at the back of the C400 laptop are the VGA, infrared, and RJ-45 (Ethernet) ports. The machine has a 200-pin connector for docking. The laptop is equipped with a RJ-11 (modem), USB, microphone, headphone/speaker ports, and a single CardBus-compliant Type II PC Card slot. The gadget has a built-in 3,600mAh Li-ion battery slot. The maker of the product, Dell, is an America-based manufacturer that primarily deals in computer hardware. Located at Round Rock, Texas, the company supports, develops, markets, and manufactures PCs, servers, data storage devices, network switches, personal digital assistance (PDAs), software, computer peripherals, and much more.
