Hardware Description

NEC designed the NX7000/P590 UNIX server and began rolling it out in May 1997. It could be fitted with up to eight PA-8000 (180 MHz) processors and was noteworthy because of its I/O expandability. The NX7000/P590 was used to construct fast, highly reliable systems by taking advantage of the performance afforded by its eight-way SMP architecture and NEC' fault-tolerant technologies accumulated through the company' experience with mainframes.
