Bio/Description
Instrumental in providing worldwide product leadership for storage systems for open systems and mainframes, Moore has served as StorageTek's chief strategist and spokesman worldwide for over ten years and is credited with creating their strategic vision and long-range plans. He began a 21-year career with StorageTek in 1976 as the first Systems Engineer and concluded as Corporate Vice President of Strategic Planning and Marketing. In 1998, he founded Horison Information Strategies in Boulder, Colorado, a data storage industry analyst and consulting firm that specializes in executive briefings, marketing strategy, and business development for end-users and storage hardware and software suppliers.
He was born in Crystal City, Missouri, south of St. Louis, where he attended high school. Moore received a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a Master's degree in Computer Applications in Physical Geography from the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he was a 1989 recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award and a 2004 recipient of the Arts and Science Scholar-In-Residence Award. He completed the Berkeley Executive Program in 1997.
A sought-after speaker at industry conferences worldwide, including Gartner Group Conference, DataStorage, Computer Measurement Group (CMG), Xephon, SHARE, CSC Index, Dataquest, and the Network Storage Conference, Moore has also served on the CCIA Vision 20/20 project. Moore has served as Editor of Storage for Computer Technology Review magazine and published numerous papers on Computer Storage Systems. He also wrote numerous books, reports, and webcasts for the storage industry. He has served on a number of select boards in the storage networking industry.
