Description

Head of Central Research at Siemens AG in Munich, Schwaertzel has served as President of Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI) from 1987–1991. He initiated DFKI (German Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence) in Saarbrücken and IBF (International Conference and Research Center) at Dagstuhl castle near Wadern.

Schwaertzel also founded FAST (Research Institute for Applied Software Technology) in Munich.
