The Infrastructure Committee is responsible for the technical foundations that enable ITHS to operate reliably, securely, and sustainably. This committee manages the Society’s internal technology and digital assets, ensuring that systems are maintained, access is controlled, and risks are minimized. This empowers other committees to focus on mission, content, and community.
- Manage ITHS technical infrastructure
- Oversee hosting, servers, and cloud services used by ITHS
- Manage development, staging, and production environments as appropriate
- Coordinate routine maintenance, upgrades, and deprecations
- DevOps and operational reliability
- Maintain deployment workflows and automation where useful
- Ensure monitoring, logging, and alerting are in place for critical systems
- Plan for continuity and resilience, including incident response procedures
- Security, backups, and data protection
- Keep all sites and services secure through updates, patching, and best practices
- Ensure regular, tested backups of websites, databases, and critical assets
- Manage data retention and recovery procedures
- Access control and credential management
- Maintain passwords, API keys, and credentials for all systems and services
- Define and enforce appropriate admin and editor access levels
- Handle onboarding and offboarding of technical access for staff, volunteers, and vendors
- Domain, email, and core services
- Manage domain registrations, renewals, and DNS configuration
- Oversee email services and addresses at the ITHS domain
- Maintain third-party services required for daily operations
- Documentation and coordination
- Maintain clear documentation of systems, access, and procedures
- Coordinate with other committees to support events, publishing, membership, and fundraising needs
- Advise the Board on technical risks, constraints, and opportunities
