Bio/Description
Fellow of both the Society of Women Engineers and the Institute for the Advancement of Engineering, Gleiter built a career devoted to expanding opportunities for women in technology and engineering worldwide. She served as CEO and board chair of the Global Institute For Technology and Engineering (GIFTE), a nonprofit organization dedicated to elevating the status of women in the international technology and engineering workforce.
After earning her B.S. in chemical engineering from Purdue University in 1960, Gleiter re-entered the workforce in 1980 by joining The Aerospace Corporation, where she focused on satellite and ground systems management and project engineering. She pioneered environmental efforts at government satellite launch sites and received a Programs Group Achievement Award for that work.
Gleiter was inducted into the WITI Hall of Fame in 2016.
