Bio/Description
Author of the Karel programming language, Pattis published "Karel the Robot: A Gentle Introduction to the Art of Programming." He received his MS from Stanford University and has served as a professor of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. From September 2007, he has served as a senior lecturer of Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine.
In 2011, Pattis received the Distinguished Educators award from the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The Distinguished Member Grade ACM Award recognizes those ACM members with at least 15 years of professional experience and 5 years of continuous Professional Membership who have achieved significant accomplishments or have made a significant impact on the computing field.
