Bio/Description

A former professor of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, he is the author of the Karel programming language, and published "Karel the Robot: A gentle introduction to the art of programming". He received his MS from Stanford University. Since September 2007, he has been a senior lecturer of Computer Science at University of California, Irvine. In 2011, he was a recipient of the Distinguished Educators award by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The Distinguished Member Grade ACM Award recognizes those ACM members with at least 15 years of professional experience and 5 years of continuous Professional Membership who have achieved significant accomplishments or have made a significant impact on the computing field.
