Bell Northern Research is a telecommunications research and development organization focused on telecommunications and computer network equipment and software. The company is considered to have pioneered the development of digital technology, and created the first practical digital PBX (SL1), and central office (DMS). Bell Northern Research is headquartered in Ontario, Canada, and was absorbed into Nortel Networks in the mid-1990s.
