The firm is largely sector agnostic, though technology focused, and invests using its own capital in collaboration with super funds, high net worths, family offices and institutions. Carthona is a high conviction investor – typically selecting a small number of the hundreds of deals examined each year, and focusing its resources – capital, advice, mentorship, learnings, network etc. to partner with management to build successful businesses. Carthona has a global mandate and its thematic approach has led it to investing in VR (Zero Latency), fintech (Credible), autonomous vehicles (Ouster), cryptocurrency (Abra) and marketplaces (Sparesbox and Peerspace) amongst others. Carthona’s current fund is approximately $100m with additional AUM of $100m.
