Darknet is a VR strategy game for the Oculus Rift that casts the player as an elite hacker in cyberspace. The game begins with a crisscrossing grid of spheres, where users “hack” via a short mini-game to collect money to buy upgrades to help them hack bigger and more lucrative spheres. The ultimate goal of each game is to hack the “root” node, which is often defended by several barriers which must first be taken down. This overarching goal is the central strategy phase of the game: pick which nodes to attack in the fastest time possible, in order to beat the clock. The game includes two modes and its controls are just point, tap, and occasionally press back.
