Diatom Database is a multi-layered picture technique allowing the viewer to pan through the picture using the fine focus. It is accessible via a browser. Diatom Database is a multi-user platform, capable of being deployed on an intranet. This means that all its users’ students can access the database without having to have any client software, and no master CD or dongle. Since all the logic is built into the HTML files there is no need for a back-end database. It is platform independent. Diatom Database is based in Somerset.
