Kitovu is web/mobile based decentralized fertilizer/seedling warehousing system that matches the right inputs to different farm locations owned by smallholder farmers in distant pocket locations so as to lower cost of cultivation while ensuring increased yields. It consists of web portal, mobile app, and USSD platforms, so that even farmers in distant pocket locations would benefit from our solution. Using the mobile app, data; from geo-location, to soil data are collected by Kitopreneurs (independent entrepreneurs who work with us), analyzed, aggregated and synchronized to our online database using Big Data Analytics tools, such that farm locations can be accurately matched to the right fertilizers, agro-chemicals, and seedlings. By matching the right inputs to the right soils, optimal yield can be guaranteed.
