Company Description

The Mash-Up Americans talks about culture, race, religion, identity, and what it means to be American today.

The Mash-Up Americans is what America looks like: a wedding with mehndi and a chuppah, a kitchen where heirloom chopsticks and grandma’s cornbread recipe sit side-by-side, a meeting of parents who don’t speak the same language, a baby whose name contains multitudes, a date where you find yourself explaining that what you look like is only part of who you are. The company lives on the frontlines of hyphen-America, and we want to talk about it--all the things we love, struggle with and need to understand. We’re here to help you navigate the complexities of Mash-Up America as we figure it out ourselves. In addition to publishing original stories at mashupamericans.com, the company produces a podcast from Southern California Public Radio / American Public Media and curate must-read stories in our weekly newsletter. The company also works with select clients who want to create and distribute content that speaks to Mash-Up America in an authentic, meaningful way.
