The Department of Behavioral Neurobiology is focused on the research of sexual differentiations of the brain. The Department of Behavioral Ecology and Evolutionary Genetics revolves around the evolution of mate choice, mate fidelity, and parental care in birds. The Department of Migration and Immuno-Ecology is focused on the research of why animals migrate and how they survive. The Max Planck Institute was founded in 2004 and is based in Seewiesen, Austria.
