Nynex was a telecommunications company which served some of the New England states in the United States. The company was founded as a result of the regulatory break up of the monopoly of AT&T in 1984. Nynex was made up of two former subsidiaries of AT&T, New York Telephone and New England Telephone. Nynex merged with Bell Atlantic in 1997 and was based in New York City.
