Orinoco was founded by a core group of internet professionals who met and worked together at Amazon Japan during its formative years after their entry into Japan in 2000. The Tokyo-based company was formed in September of 2009 with seven full-time people, all of whom are bilingual, and have abundant online experience in companies such as Amazon, Apple, Disney, Six Apart, YOOX and McKinsey. Orinoco currently operates two businesses: licensing of online services from the U.S. exclusively for the Japanese market (SurveyMonkey, bit.ly, FanBridge, etc) and PeaTiX (http://peatix.com), an event management and ticketing service.
