Interactive Running Video Software

Outside Interactive has developed our Virtual Runner Software app for Windows, iOS and Android platforms for treadmill users to simulate the pace a person would run outside through a series of videos the runner would view while inside on their own treadmill. Virtual Runner brings a virtual experience to any treadmill. Video speed can be adjusted manually, or using the ANT+ or Bluetooth wireless protocols, whereby the user attaches a small footpod to their shoelace which communicates with a wireless receiver in the user's laptop, PC, iPad or Android tablet. An optional heart rate monitor can also be displayed if worn. The footpod transmits the runner's pace to the wireless receiver which in turn controls the pace of the video through Virtual Runner. If the user runs faster, the video speeds up to their exact pace. If the video slows down or stops, the video responds accordingly and accurately. An on screen dashboard can be enabled to show the overall time, distance run, average pace, heart rate and cadence and 'PR Pace' or best time for that video allowing you to compete against yourself. All videos are shot in HD from a runner's point of view. Videos include famous race courses, popular running routes and scenic destinations. Distances range from a 5K all the way up to a full marathon. Optional starting points and a save feature allow the viewer to spread a video out over several days or workouts. Outside Interactive partners with large marquee endurance events, allowing for global remote participation which counts in a whole new remote participant category. This allows races which sell out to expand their entrants, providing global exposure to the race and its sponsors, as well as creating a whole new revenue stream for the race and its charities.
