Company Description

Polymeric technology developed at Rebel Inc. is seeking to disrupt the textile industry with the development of a much more sustainable. . .

It's hard to imagine in our time of technological progress that 30% of all synthetic fibers are still produced on technology developed over 50 years ago with little regard to the disastrous impact such manufacturing procedures have on the environment (in particular Acrylic fiber production). Compared with other synthetic fiber manufacturing procedures, such as Nylon, Polyester and Polypropylene, methods utilized for Acrylic fiber manufacturing release a greater amount of hazardous waste and emissions into the atmosphere, creating irreparable damage to the environment. The aim of Rebel, Inc. (formerly Macromolecular, Inc.), a Silicon Valley startup, has been to solve this problem. For decades, the polymer industry has attempted to find a process by which to produce Acrylic type polymers, in a similar method, to other common synthetic fibers. Rebel Inc. has achieved this through the development of a new polymer platform that can provide a significantly greener and more sustainable solution, reducing the dependence on resources, such as, water and electricity.
