Company Description
The Times Group boasts of producing the world's largest English daily broadsheet.
In 1838, The Times Group started operations. After about 169 years, with over 7000 employees, 11 publishing centers, 5 daily newspapers and 2 lead magazines that reach over 2468 cities and towns, the group has become the biggest media conglomerate in India. The Times Group boasts of producing the world's largest English daily broadsheet - The Times of India, the world's second largest financial daily - The Economic Times and top film and women's magazines - Filmfare and Femina. In the late 90s, after about a decade of liberalization, the media environment in the country began changing. The distinct difference between the media and the entertainment industry, prevalent till then, started to blur. With an established numero uno tag in publishing, The Times Group felt the need to diversify into other associated sectors. The organization set out on its path to metamorphose into an integrated media and entertainment firm. The intent of the music label was to create albums tailored to appeal to the discerning audience. Times Music pioneered the concepts of spiritual, world and remix music in India and established itself as the No. 1 music label in the spiritual music genre. Some of the biggest names in the music scene rendered their voices to produce some of the best known albums for Times Music - The Golden Raaga Collection, Gayatri, Himalayan Chants and Hanuman Chalisa. With the advent of digital music, the music industry once again started experiencing a boom. However, the revival was primarily led by commercial film music and therefore the group decided to launch its independent Hindi and regional film music label, Junglee Music.
