Bio/Description

A native of Philadelphia, he studied at MIT and continued there as a staff member of the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science, where he worked on the team designing the original mail mechanism still used for email. At Bolt, Beranek, and Newman he led the projects that created the initial Internet. Later, he went on to become an Internet specialist with the Oracle Corporation of Redwood Shores, California where he helped transform the Internet from an internal corporate tool into a business-driven electronic commerce. He was also a Commerce Net member. In 2003, he and his wife Jan left Silicon Valley for Point Arena where he owned some land.
