Mr. Sviatoslav (Slava) Leonidovich Pestov

Pestov was born in Tomsk, now in Russia. He lived for 10 years in New Zealand before moving to Canberra, Australia, and from there to Ottawa, Ontario for college. He now resides in Wellington, New Zealand. He started developing jEdit in 1998, but left the project in 2006, handing it over to the free software community. In 2003 he created Factor as a scripting language for a video game which was later incorporated into Java. Pestov holds a MSc degree in Mathematics from the University of Ottawa.
