At Antumbra they are developing Glow, an open-source ambient monitor backlight. Every year, consumers spend billions of dollars on improving their computer and media viewing experience. From surround sound to create an immersive entertainment experience to chairs and peripherals designed to be ergonomic and comfortable, consumers strive to create the best experience for both work and play. By illuminating the wall behind the TV or monitor, Glow reduces the contrast between the display and the rest of the room - greatly reducing eyestrain and making working, watching and playing more comfortable, even for marathon sessions. In addition, Glow acts like “surround sound for your eyes”, instantly creating an immersive visual experience that responds to the content on the screen, dynamically extending the colors on the screen into the users peripheral vision.
