Prinovis was founded in 2005 as a merger of the gravure operations of arvato (Bertelsmann), Axel Springer and Gruner + Jahr. Originally, arvato and Gruner + Jahr each held a 37.45 percent share of Prinovis. Now Bertelsmann SE & Co KGaA directly owns 74.9 percent of the shares, with the remaining 25.1 percent held by Axel Springer SE. The company does business as a Prinovis Limited & Co. KG. It is part of Be Printers, the conglomerate of print operations within Bertelsmann SE & Co KGaA. Dr. Bertram Stausberg serves as CEO of the Prinovis group of companies. The Be Printers group covers the entire range of technology in the modern printing industry. In addition to high-volume illustration and book printing (gravure, offset), Be Printers companies also offer sheet-fed offset printing services and customisable products using digital printing technology. They produce magazines, catalogues, brochures and books of the highest quality for their clients, and also provide direct marketing and e-publishing services. Prinovis has production sites in Ahrensburg, Dresden and Nuremberg in Germany and Liverpool in the UK. In addition to the corporate headquarters in Hamburg, Prinovis has an office in Paris.
